Tabriz Municipality Palace is one of Tabriz’s historic, and beautiful buildings, a masterpiece of German-style art that resembles a flying eagle flying its wings in the center of the vast city.
Tabriz Municipality Building is one of the important historical and cultural monuments of this city which is listed in the national monuments list. It is one of the most important tourist attractions in the city, so all tourists and travelers are planning to visit this beautiful mansion while staying in the city.
Tabriz Municipality’s “Clock Tower” was built in 1925 with the supervision of German engineers based on a German style. After the Second World War, it was used by the Azerbaijan Democratic Party as a government office.
Because of the existence of a clock at the highest point of the tower, this edifice is also popular among people for sa’at (clock) building.
It is noteworthy that this square has been registered on the National Heritage List as one of the oldest monuments in the city of Tabriz. The U-shaped building of the Tabriz Municipality has been carved in stone on three floors with a 6500 square meters area.
The aerial map of the mansion is similar to the design of a flying eagle, which corresponds to the sample of buildings in Germany before World War II. The beautiful appearance and excellent harmony of the clock tower on the central axis of the whole building are among the main features of this complex.
This unique beauty even attracts passersby even remotely. In recent years some parts of the building are decorated for the function of a museum called the municipal museum or the City museum of Tabriz.
This museum is considered the first museum of history in Iran’s municipalities. It was opened in 2007 coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the municipality in Tabriz.
