On the occasion of national Shiraz Day, every year special programs are held by Shiraz Municipality on this special day. Some local musicians give concerts and sing traditional and folk songs which are forgotten today.
Women from rural areas wearing special costumes serve visitors traditional foods and bread they cook. In addition, you can take a walking tour of the city, see colorful balloon flights, enjoy various concerts and shows, find outstanding crafts, and enjoy delicious local food and traditional drinks.
Many famous Iranian poets and philosophers were born in Shiraz and have played a prominent role in making Shiraz famous, such as Saadi, Hafez, and Mulla Sadra.
In the 13th century, the Shiraz became reputed as the City of Sciences (Dar-ol- Elm) due to the prosperity of science, culture, and art. The best time to go to Shiraz is in May when the streets are full of orange blossoms. The weather in Shiraz is usually very pleasant during this month. It will take at least three or four days to visit this city to discover all the sights of the city.
