Masouleh staircase village is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Iran and one of the most prominent examples of staircase architecture in the world. Here the roofs of houses on lower tiers are used as courtyards for houses on the tiers above them. This feature has created beautiful landscapes in this village, which are unique subjects for photography, especially when it is foggy.
This village is located in the green zone of Gilan 65 kilometers west of Rasht city, one of the most crowded provinces of northern Iran. According to historical sources, Masouleh is about 800 to 1000 years old. In this area, you can see the most beautiful natural scenery of Iran. Masouleh is located in the domain of the Alborz forest, at an altitude of 1050 meters above sea level. These factors have made this village have a favorable climate even in summer.
One of the interesting features of Masouleh is the difference in height between the highest and the lowest point. There is about 120 meters height difference between the lowest and highest points.
The people of the area adorn their homes with colorful pots and other decorative accessories and sometimes invite you to visit their own homes.
How to go there: Masouleh-Fouman road. From Fouman, take the beautiful tourist area through the direct road to Masouleh. The distance of this village from the city of Fouman is about 34 km and it can be reached in less than an hour by car.
