Badabsurt is a natural site in Mazandaran Province in northern Iran, 95 kilometers south of the city of Sari, and 7 kilometers west of Orost village. These springs reach the heights and hills covered with coniferous forests from the north and overlook the downstream valleys from the south and adjacent to the heights covered with shrubs and bushes from the east.
Badab means sparkling water and Surt means the intensity of the effect. Badabsurt springs were registered in 2008 as the second national natural monument of Iran.
Badab Surt spring water is salty and has a moderate temperature and due to the presence of salts and iron oxide, several healing properties are mentioned for it. Many consider this attraction to be the most beautiful spring in the world and it is referred to as the second saltwater spring in the world, which is located after the Pamukkale spring in Turkey.
Surt springs include three springs with totally different water of colors, smells, tastes, and volumes of water. The first is full of water, very salty and high with a diameter of about 15 meters which are mainly used in summer. Also, this spring will not freeze in winter.
The second spring is located upstream and northwest of the spring and is sour, red, orange, and blue and around the spring there is an iron fountain.
